Buses and trains – Barcelona to Hike Pyrenees
There are several options if you’d like to get to us by public transport. Biescas where our Village to Village itinerary starts is the easiest of our bases to reach by bus. If you have any questions about getting to our holidays then please drop us an email.
Getting from Barcelona to Biescas
There are a couple of options – either catch a bus the whole way which is the cheapest or take a mix of train to Zaragoza and then either a bus or meet one of our transfers from the train station.
The whole journey by bus
To take the bus the whole way catch a bus from Barcelona Sants to a town called Huesca where you change to a bus to Sabiñanigo (which is the nearest you can get by public transport). The bus tickets costs about 25 euros per person each way and there are about 5 buses every day. At Sabiñanigo we’ll arrange a taxi to meet the bus and take you to the hotel in Biescas (20 mins, 30 euros). The whole journey takes about 5 hours and the change at Huesca is very easy with the connections timed to meet each other. The buses are more like coaches than local buses and are reasonable comfortable (although it’s still a fairly long journey in the bus).
You can view bus times and buy tickets at www.avanzabus.com although you can only view times up to about two months in advance. However the bus times are quite stable so for travel planning just use the bus times of those nearest to your travel dates.
By train to Zaragoza and bus to Biescas
To come via Zaragoza take an AVE fast train from Barcelona Sants to Zaragoza Delicias (1 ½ hours, about 60 euros per person one way, 90 euros return). There are trains roughly every hour and very comfortable. From Zaragoza either meet our transfer or catch a direct bus up to Sabiñanigo (2 hours, 14,80 euros per person each way plus 2€ booking fee per ticket). The bus and train station are in the same building in Zaragoza.

From Sabiñanigo bus station we’ll arrange for a taxi to meet you from the bus and take you to the hotel in Biescas (20 mins, 30 euros each way). To come via Zaragoza on the train is more expensive due to the train ticket but a bit quicker and more comfortable. If you’d like to meet our transfer we pick up at the train station at either 12 noon or 3pm. Transfers are included in all of our guided holidays. If you are on a self guided holiday the price of the Saturday standard transfer is 99€ per person for the return trip.
You can book both train and bus tickets about 8 weeks in advance. Train tickets and times can be seen at www.renfe.com and buses at www.avanzabus.com. Both sites are very fickle about accepting foreign credit cards so if you have any problems buying tickets let us know.
Buses to Torla and the Ordesa National Park
To get to Tora first get to Sabiñanigo as described above. From Sabiñanigo there is only one bus service a day which doesn’t connect well with buses from Barcelona, Huesca or Zaragoza so realistically you’ll need to take a taxi to Torla (45 mins, approx. 80 euros one way). We can arrange a taxi to meet you from the bus.
