Covid-19/Coronavirus update and information

Spain announced that from 9th May most international tourists can now come to Spain. To be honest, the government has not made it clear exactly which countries are allowed to travel to Spain, but for certain, the list includes most European countries and the UK. You need a negative PCR test 72 hours before arrival and need to fill in a health/contact information form on the Spain travel health website or on the app called SpTH which you can download from the Apple app store or Google play. The Spanish government is already talking about UK visitors to travel to Spain, from May 20th, with no PCR test needed as the rates within the UK are so low – however, this is yet to be confirmed. If you arrive in Spain without a negative test certificate, or without the QR code that you get from the Spain travel health website or app, you will not be allowed entry, so it is vital that you organise these documents before you travel. The process is very simple and we can help you if you have any problems.

Remember that you also need to follow rules put in place by your own country – some places such as the UK currently require you to take a PCR test before you return to the UK and then again 2 days after you return. If you need a PCR test while in Spain, we will book and organise this for you.

We are currently taking bookings for summer 2021 from July onwards. Hopefully, some normality will have returned to international travel by the summer. We are making our booking policy as flexible as possible as we understand there are still many uncertainties about travel next summer. We are therefore making the following guarantees to all of our guests:

No deposit required for 2021 bookings
Reserve your place on any of our holidays with no need to pay any deposit.

Payment due only two weeks before your holiday
We are only asking for payment of your holiday two weeks before arrival to allow you to see the latest travel situation before you pay. If during the two weeks before you arrive, your holiday has to be cancelled for any COVID related reason we will give you a full refund.

Moneyback guarantee
If for any covid related reason you cannot travel (or just don’t feel comfortable travelling) we will refund any monies you have paid. Applies to all new bookings made after June 2020.

Free changes of dates
No charge to change the dates of your holiday if you need to delay your holiday to later in the season or the following year (subject to availability).

Covid protocols
When our holidays restart, rest assured that Hike Pyrenees, as well as all of the hotels we work with, will follow all of the appropriate protocols to make your holiday as safe as possible.

If you had a booking for summer 2020 that was postponed you can move your booking to any 2021 trip. Once you’re ready with your dates just let us know and we’ll get you booked in.

Here we hope to answer the questions that you have about your summer holiday whether you have an existing Hike Pyrenees booking or are looking to make a booking for 2021.

If you would like more information about any of our holidays or our covid policies then please drop us an email at info@hikepyrenees.co.uk and we’ll be glad to help.

We hope that you are all keeping well and hope that travel soon gets back to normal and we’ll see you in the Pyrenees in 2021.

Regards,
Phil and the Hike Pyrenees team.

I'd like to make a new booking for a 2021 holiday

We are currently taking bookings for summer 2021 from mid-May onwards. View our 2021 dates and prices. Hopefully, by summer 2021, some normality will have returned to international travel – particularly within Europe. We are making our booking policy as flexible as possible as we understand there are still many uncertainties about travel next summer, particularly long haul.

Revised booking conditions for 2021

No deposit required for 2021 bookings. Reserve your place on any of our holidays with no need to pay a deposit at the moment. When the feasibility of summer travel becomes clearer (hopefully by around April, but that depends on how things evolve over the coming months.), we’ll contact you to confirm your plans and ask for your deposit.

Moneyback guarantee: If for any covid related reason you cannot travel (or just don’t feel comfortable travelling) we will refund any monies you have paid. Applies to all new bookings made after June 2020.

Flexible dates: No charge to change the dates of your holiday if you need to delay your holiday to later in the season or the following year (subject to availability).

Covid protocols: When our holidays restart, rest assured that Hike Pyrenees, as well as all of the hotels we work with, will follow all of the appropriate protocols to make your holiday as safe as possible.

When are Hike Pyrenees holidays starting again?

We are currently taking bookings for the summer. We are hoping that some normality will have returned to travel by then.

With the uncertainties regarding travel at the moment, we are making our booking policy as flexible as possible with no deposit required, free changes of dates and refunds if your holiday has to be cancelled or you cannot travel for covid related reasons. Please see above for full details of our guarantees to you.

Private guiding

If you live in Spain, you will be able to travel to the Pyrenees earlier and easier than those from abroad. We can offer private guiding for groups as small as two people, with prices the same as our standard group itineraries. Just drop us an email if you’re interested in private guiding and I will email you an itinerary.

I had a summer 2020 holiday booked - what are my options?

Firstly, you should have received an email from us outlining your options – if not let us know.

If you had a 2020 booking, you can transfer your booking and deposit to any holiday in 2021 (or 2022 if necessary). We guarantee that all prices will remain the same for next summer. View our 2021 hiking program.

If you have any questions or doubts about your holiday booking please send us an email at info@hikepyrenees.co.uk

Current conditions, rules and travel restrictions in Spain

Rules vary between Cominidades (autonomos communities) so the information below is with regards to Aragon, where all of our holidays are based (apart from the Picos de Europa).

Travel around Spain and between comunidades is now allowed. Bars, restaurants and hotels are allowed to open, albeit with reduced capacities and social distancing. Most hotels are now open, or preparing to open. All of the hotels taht we work with are either open, or opening during May.

Masks are compulsory everywhere in the streets and indoor places such as shops and bars. You need to wear masks when walking around the villages and when going inside any shops. This is a legal requirement. When out in the mountains there is no need to wear a mask – just use common sense and if you meet other people on the trail, put your mask back on or leave plemnty of room for them to pass.

International travel restrictions

Spain is currently happy to receive international visitors from most of Europe. You need to have had a negative PCR test within 72 hours of travel and complete the Spain travel health form on the website or app (see above). No qurantine is needed on arrival as you’ve just had a negative test.

If I need a PCR test while in Spain to return back to my home country, how can I get it done?

If you need a PCR test to return back to the UK or elsewhere, we can arrange this for you while you are staying with us. We are currently checking the price of the tests. Tests can be done at a private clinic in Jaca (20 mins drive from Biescas). We can book the test for you and if you’ve no transport will give you a lift there and back.

If you are spending time in Spain after your holiday with us, you will need to organise your own PCR test. Normally PCR tests need to be done 72 hours before travel, so if you had a test while you were with us it will probably have expired by the time you travel.

What happens if I arrive in Spain without a negative test certificate or without the QR code that you get from the Spain travel health website or app?

If you arrive in Spain without a negative test certificate, or without the QR code, you WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ENTRY. Please make sure you have these documents organised before you travel.
