Covid update and 2022 booking conditions

We’re pleased to be offering our full range of walking holidays in 2022.

Spain has recently relaxed its rules on entry for fully vaccinated travellers. You can read the full rules on the Spain Travel Health website.

If you are fully vaccinated, you just need to present an EU digital COVID certificate or EU recognised vaccine certificate on arrival in Spain. If you are unsure if your vaccine certificate is EU recognised, you can check here: https://www.spth.gob.es/spain-validator

Alternatively, you can present a negative certificate of an active infection diagnostic test or a recovery certificate after having this disease.

If your vaccine certificate is not EU recognised (I’m not certain if certificates issued in the USA are recognised or not), then you DO need to complete the SpTH health/contact information form and get a QR code to enter Spain. You can complete the form on the Spain travel health website or on the app called SpTH which you can download from the Apple app store or Google play. The process is very simple and we can help you if you have any problems.

Remember that you also need to follow rules put in place by your own country to return. Currently, for the UK there is no testing requirement or forms to complete on your return to the UK. We can’t keep track of the rules for all countries, so please make sure that you check your own country’s rules before travelling. If you do need a lateral flow or PCR test while in Spain, we will book and organise this for you.

We are currently taking bookings for summer 2022 and you can view our hiking program here.

If you have any questions regarding travelling to Spain and the rules, please contact us and we’ll be glad to help.

Flexible booking policy

We are making our booking policy as flexible as possible for 2022, as we understand there are still uncertainties about travel. We are therefore making the following guarantees to all of our guests:

No deposit required for 2022 bookings
Reserve your place on any of our holidays with no need to pay any deposit. Originally, we were going to ask for deposits at Easter, but in the end, we’ve decided not to charge deposits this summer.

Moneyback guarantee
If for any covid related reason you cannot travel (or just don’t feel comfortable travelling) we will refund any monies you have paid. Applies to all new bookings made after June 2020.

Free changes of dates
No charge to change the dates of your holiday if you need to delay your holiday to later in the season or the following year (subject to availability).

Covid protocols
Rest assured that Hike Pyrenees, as well as all of the hotels we work with, will follow all of the appropriate protocols to make your holiday as safe as possible.

Existing bookings
If you had a booking for 2020 or 2021 that was postponed, you can move your booking to any 2022 trip. Once you’re ready with your dates just let us know and we’ll get you booked in.

Here we hope to answer the questions that you have about your summer holiday whether you have an existing Hike Pyrenees booking or are looking to make a new booking.

If you would like more information about any of our holidays or our covid policies then please drop us an email at info@hikepyrenees.co.uk and we’ll be glad to help.

We hope that you are all keeping well and hope that travel soon gets back to normal and we’ll see you in the Pyrenees this summer.

Regards,
Phil and the Hike Pyrenees team.

Updated: 22 April 2022

I'd like to make a new booking for a 2022 holiday

We are currently taking bookings for 2022. View our 2022 dates and prices. Hopefully, by summer 2022, normality will have returned to international travel. We are making our booking policy as flexible as possible (see above), as we understand there are still some uncertainties about travel this summer, particularly long haul.

When are Hike Pyrenees holidays starting again?

We are offering our full range of holidays for 2022 and are currently taking bookings.

We are hoping that normality will have returned to travel by then, but with the uncertainties regarding travel, we are making our booking policy as flexible as possible with no deposit required until Easter, free changes of dates and refunds if your holiday has to be cancelled or you cannot travel for covid related reasons. Please see above for full details of our guarantees to you.

Private guiding

If you live in Spain, you will be able to travel to the Pyrenees earlier and easier than those from abroad. We can offer private guiding for groups as small as two people, with prices the same as our standard group itineraries. Just drop us an email if you’re interested in private guiding and I will email you an itinerary.

I had a summer 2020 or 2021 holiday booked and couldn't come - what are my options?

Firstly, you should have received an email from us outlining your options – if not let us know.

If you had a 2020 booking, you can transfer your booking and deposit to any holiday in 2021 (or 2022 if necessary). We guarantee that all prices will remain the same for next summer. View our 2021 hiking program.

If you have any questions or doubts about your holiday booking please send us an email at info@hikepyrenees.co.uk

Current conditions, rules and travel restrictions in Spain

Rules vary between Cominidades (autonomos communities) so the information below is with regards to Aragon, where all of our holidays are based (apart from the Picos de Europa).

All bars, restaurants and hotels are open.

Masks are no longer compulsory in indoor places such as shops and bars. However, masks are still required on public transport such as trains and buses as well as a few other places such as hospitals and medical centres. You don’t need to wear a mask outdoors.

International travel restrictions

Spain is currently happy to receive international visitors – please see the rules above or visit the Spain Travel Health website.

If I need a PCR test while in Spain to return back to my home country, how can I get it done?

If you need a lateral flow or PCR test to return back home, we can arrange this for you while you are staying with us. The local pharmacy in Biescas does lateral flow tests and they are easy to arrange. In Barcelona and Madrid there are lots of test centres and it’s easy to book a test.

What happens if I arrive in Spain without a negative test certificate or without the QR code that you get from the Spain travel health website or app?

If you arrive in Spain without an EU recognised vaccine certificate, or without the QR code, you WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ENTRY. Please make sure you have these documents organised before you travel.
