Covid-19/Coronavirus update and information
The coronavirus situation in Spain has improved rapidly during June and most bars, restaurants and hotels are now open albeit with social distancing measures in place. See below for more details about the current situation in Spain.
With the infections in the Pyrenees currently low, we are restarting our holidays from 5th July. We are putting in the appropriate hygiene and distancing protocols and are lucky that in the mountains it’s nice and easy to socially distance. In Spain, guides are allowed to take groups into the mountains and self-guided itineraries are also permitted. All of the hotels that we use are already open.
If you already have a booking for this summer, you should have already received an email from us outlining your options, but if not the details are below.
Here we hope to answer the questions that you have about your summer holiday whether you have an existing Hike Pyrenees booking or are looking to make a booking for this summer or 2021.
If you still have doubts and would like more information about anything at all please drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll be glad to help.
We hope that you are all keeping well and hope to see you in the Pyrenees if not this summer then in 2021.
Phil and the Hike Pyrenees team.

Current conditions, rules and travel restrictions in Spain
The situation in Spain has improved rapidly over the last month. Bars, restaurants and hotels are all open with social distancing and tables spaced well apart.
Masks are compulsory on public transport and whenever you are in a place that you might be within two metres of other people. You need to wear masks when walking around the villages and when going inside any shops. This is a legal requirement. When out in the mountains there is no need to wear a mask – just use common sense and if you meet other people on the trail, leave room on the path for them to pass.
The AVE trains from Madrid and Barcelona to Zaragoza and buses are running as normal – maybe with slightly fewer trains and buses than usual.
International travel restrictions
Travellers from EU or Schengen zone countries are already permitted to enter Spain with no quarantine requirements. There are some checks on arrival and you are required to leave contact details. Travel from the UK: It is widely anticipated that the UK government will shortly be announcing a travel corridor with Spain, with no quarantine requirement either on arrival in Spain or on your return to the UK.
From July 1st, travellers from some countries outside Europe will be allowed into Spain. However, Spain is yet to release the list of countries that will be allowed to enter without quarantine and it is expected that this will be a changeable list depending on the status of each country.
Are Hike Pyrenees running holidays this summer?
Yes, Hike Pyrenees are running holidays starting from 5th July. We have put in place appropriate hygiene and distancing protocols as have all of the hotels and restaurants that we work with.
Family hiking and activity holidays
Our family hiking and activity holidays will be running as normal. All of the activities such as canyoning, biking, high ropes course and the zipline are open with appropriate measures to keep guests safe.
Self guided hiking itineraries
Our self guided itineraries will be operating as normal throughout the summer. If you are looking to travel in July, August or September we’d recommend our Village to Village itinerary in the high Pyrenees – beautiful scenery, hiking and villages throughout. For holidays in October and November take a look at our Villages of the Guara or Passes of Beceite itineraries – both in areas that have perfect weather for autumn or spring hiking.
Guided hiking holidays
In 2020 we will be running a revised guided walking program with holidays being run mainly in September and based in Biescas. Full details will be published shortly.
We also have availability for private guided holidays throughout the summer – just drop us an email if you’d like a quote or some suggestions for itineraries.
I have a summer 2020 holiday booked - what are my options?
Firstly, you should have received an email from us outlining your options – if not let us know.
All of our holidays will be running this summer. However, we totally understand that, even if travel is possible from where you live, that not everyone wants to travel this summer. You can, therefore, transfer your booking and deposit to any holiday in 2021 (or for later in 2020 if you prefer). We guarantee that all prices will remain the same for next summer. View our 2021 hiking program.
If you are still planning on coming on your holiday then we are only asking for full payment of your holiday two weeks before you travel. This gives you the best chance to see the latest situation before committing to your holiday.
If your holiday is for August or September and at the moment you are not sure if you’d like to travel or not, that’s no problem. Just let su know once you’ve made a decision. If you know that you are not wanting to travel this year, please let us know so that we can free up your hotel room and give the hotel a chance to sell the room.
If you have any questions or doubts about your holiday booking please send us an email at email@example.com
I'd like to make a new booking for a 2020 or a 2021 holiday
We are taking new bookings for holidays in summer 2020 and 2021. View our dates and prices. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to check availability or to ask any questions.
Revised booking conditions for new bookings
For all new bookings made June 15th 2020 onwards, if for any coronavirus related reason your holiday cannot go ahead (whether in 2020 or 2021) we will fully refund any deposit paid.
If you are booking for 2021, you do not need to pay any deposit until the New Year – we will contact you in January to ask for a deposit, giving you a chance to have further assessed the situation before paying your deposit.
For all 2020 holidays, we are only asking for full payment 2 weeks before your holiday in order to give you the most time to see the latest conditions, travel restrictions, etc.
