Why choose Hike Pyrenees?

About Hike Pyrenees

As outdoor lovers, Phil and Anna have hiked around the world. After spending a lot of time hiking in Spain, we fell in love with the culture, food and way of life. In 2007 we left our London office jobs and moved to the Pyrenees to set up Hike Pyrenees. We haven’t looked back since! Hike Pyrenees ran their first holidays in 2008. We live in Biescas year round and are now fully integrated into village life! We were married here in Biescas (at Hotel Tierra de Biescas) and our children, Isabel and Christopher, were born in Spain and are totally bi-lingual.

From a small beginning, Hike Pyrenees has grown steadily each year and we now have a small team of local guides as well as an office which is manned by Teresa and Rosa. A qualified international mountain leader, Phil still leads many walks himself and guides cultural trips to Jaca and Ainsa.

We hope that you’ll visit us in the Pyrenees and see for yourselves why we fell in love with this beautiful corner of the world.

Our philosophy
Our aim is to make your holiday in the Pyrenees a special experience. We are a small friendly company and offer a very personal service with attention to all of the little details. All of the hotels and hikes have been carefully selected and knowing the area so well, we offer a tailored experience choosing routes each day that suit the group.

We like to show our guests an undiscovered corner of Spain that is not visited by many foreign tourists – most of our itineraries include a cultural aspect where you’ll learn more about the fascinating culture and history of the area – and of course the famous Spanish tapas and wine!

Your safety is of utmost important to us and we only employ qualified guides that hold either the International Mountain Leader or Guia de Alta Montaña (Spanish high mountain guide) qualifications.

Local knowledge and qualified guides
We have a small team of local qualified experienced guides. You can be assured that you’ll be safe on the mountain with them and that their experience will enhance your holiday.

Apart from Phil, all of the team is Spanish, so you’ll find all about Spanish culture while you are here. The team all know the Pyrenees like the back of their hand and will tell you all about the area’s history, wildlife and customs during your stay. All of our guides speak excellent English.

All of our guides are qualified for the terrain they lead in. This is not only a legal requirement but part of our philosophy of offering a high level of quality and safety on our holidays.
