Phil, Anna, Ken & Hannah would like to say a big thank you to all of our guests that made this summer such an excellent and memorable season for Hike Pyrenees. It makes our hiking a pleasure when we’ve such great and friendly guests – we hope you enjoyed the hiking as much as we did! We had some fantastic holidays in the Valle de Tena and Ordesa and I thought I’d put up some of my favourite photos of the season that will hopefully bring back some good memories for our guests.
Some of the highlights were two groups summiting Pico Posets the second highest peak in the Pyrenees and an ascent of Monte Perdido in June when there was still a huge amount of snow around.
For the first time in six years in the Pyrenees we had some challenging weather for the first part of the season – meadows that usually we’d be relaxing in the sun having a picnic were covered in 2 feet of snow! So thanks for everybodies understanding as we changed itineraries to suit the conditions – fortunately our local knowledge meant that we still did some great hikes each day.
Wild flower enthusiasts had a treat this season as we had a fantastic display of flowers this season – orchids and gentians were everywhere throughout June and July.
The meadows were beautiful this year with snow topped peaks rising above them. All of the mountain lakes were full to the brim all summer.
The Ordesa canyon was of course as spectacular as ever….
Punta del Pacino was one of our favourite summits once again. There are so many good summits in the Valle de Tena to choose from.
It’s not all about the hiking you know…..
We’re now preparing for next summer (and waiting for the ski slopes to open of course!). We’ll keep you updated with all of our plans for 2014 and look forward to seeing some of you back in the Pyrenees next year.
Phil & Anna
