Being avid hikers from the Seattle area, we've always wanted to hike the Pyrenees
but were not quite sure that our limited Spanish speaking skills would let us negotiate
it on our own. Luckily, we booked a trip with Phil and all the logistics were taken
care of for us! Hikes were fantastic, group was superb, and we left feeling we'd
really seen the Ordesa valley. As our new international friends would say, the trip
was brilliant!

What a great first experience of a guided hiking holiday. It took about 3 minutes
after meeting Phil to shift from nerves at the physical challenge ahead to relaxed
excitement. The week was sociable, educational and stimulating in magnificent countryside.
Anna’s homemade packed lunches were to die for. Phil and Anna aren’t simply excellent
guides and hosts but they go the extra mile with unexpected added touches. As us
kiwis say “the tramp was awesome fun”.

I had a great week -
Wonderful memories of sunny walks in an area of spectacular beauty: limestone mountains,
woodland, wild flowers, vultures, waterfalls -
Blue skies, bright sun, bubbling brook, soaring cliff faces, snow topped mountains
and the chime of cowbells; all this in the first hour of our week of walking. Each
day was different. Our expectations were surpassed in every regard. If possible we
will return to do ‘Discover Ordesa’. Phil and Hannah clearly enjoy their work and
work hard to ensure each guests needs are met. Thanks.

The Pyrenees superseded our expectations for a walking holiday both in terms of mountain
scenery but most of all with the unexpected amount and variety of flowers. They were
truly stupendous! All of this, coupled with the professional guiding ability and
expert flora and fauna knowledge that Phil possesses, made this the ideal walking
holiday – which of course would not have been sustainable without the substantial
lunches and snacks that Anna provided! Many thanks and best wishes to you both and

Brilliant hol! Wasn't sure what to expect but from the word go when we were met at

We had a really excellent week, due to the expertise and knowledge of Phil who took
great trouble to make sure everything went to plan. With the fabulous back up of
Anna (with her marvellous lunches) we felt our holiday went really well. We are

loved being so well looked after and because of the amount of local knowledge that

Phil and Anna planned a cracking week for us – and then promptly adjusted it each day depending on the weather, our energy levels or our requirement to get down off the mountains in time for the football.
Phil’s knowledge of the mountains is peerless and his enthusiasm for all that we survey along the way is utterly engaging. If you love flowers and butterflies then Phil’s an indispensable guide: he has an encyclopedic knowledge of alpine flora, fauna and bugs which would charm even the most hardened townie.
We were stretched each day on our walks, but only to the point of complete satisfaction at the end. Best of all, Phil always had an eye on the ETB – estimated time to beer – which maintained morale in the most difficult stretches and kept us focused on achieving our goal. The sight of Anna at the end of each hike, beer chiller to hand, would gladden any trekker’s heart. Her lunches erred on the generous side and were always delicious, too.
Phil’s stomping ground is the most beautiful part of the Pyrenees – and I’d know,
as I’ve walked a good chunk of the GR11 these last four years. Every turn led you
to another, more stunning, vista and each walk was different from the next. We’ll
be returning in two years’ time, eager for more.

Phil was a great guide and his enthusiasm for the region and the walking really showed.
It was fantastic to be able to learn more about the wildlife. I’m not usually that
interested but when Golden Eagles are circling around, even I sit up and take notice!
The walks were stunning and the views fantastic! As an already existing fan of the
Pyrennes, I knew I was not going to be disappointed, but the Ordesa Valley was truly
"awesome" in the proper sense of the meaning of the word. The "Pirineos Sur" concert
was spectacular with shooting stars over the mountains!

Thanks for another great holiday, you do a really exceptional job of making the holiday

Our trip with you last week (Peaks & Passes) was without doubt the best single week
away we've ever had! A great itinerary, custom selected by Phil and accounting for
a very wide range of abilities / experience in the group, expert knowledge of the

your care and attention, with a good dose of fun and freedom, all added up to a superb

Phil and Anna thank you both for a fabulous week. Hike Pyrenees was our first introduction
to walking in Spain. We holidayed independently but were invited to attend our first
walk under Phil's watchful eye! The personal touch meant that we felt secure in
the knowledge that support was there if we needed it. The organisation was spot-
It was great to receive a phone call from Phil, during one walk when the weather turned nasty .... making sure that we had reached our destination.
Phil's knowledge and enthusiasm meant that each walk (assisted by his professional and easy to follow route cards) provided as much experience as possible. Anna's packed lunches were superb and very welcome (thankyou).The homemade cakes were a particular joy. Sometimes causing arguments during "swapsies" , when i would not swap my cake for ANYTHING !
The scenery exceeded any of our expectations and to top it all we went out hiking
with the Scottish Mayor of Sardas (thoughtfully arranged by Phil!) what a wonderful
man. "Hi George". We are certainly going to recommend Hike Pyrenees to anybody that

For our honeymoon we decided to visit the Pyrenees for the first time. Panticosa
was an ideal base for exploring this spectular region with diverse and interesting
hikes that took us from lush wooded valleys to isolated high mountain lakes. The

Hiking with Phil and Anna is the way to go. Its like having your own personal guide.
There were only 3 in the group and the hikes were selected with a view to giving
us as much variety as possible and just the right level of challenge! The Pico Anayet
hike was a great climax to a fab. week. The hotel was well chosen; small, friendly
and family run. Phil and Anna treated us more as friends than customers. There were
beautiful packed lunches provided by Anna and a coolbox in Phil’s car loaded with
all sorts as an added incentive to complete the hike! Not only did I leave Panticosa
feeling fitter and pleasantly exhausted, but with a better knowledge of the flowers,
butterflies(millions!) and vultures in the area provided by Phil/David Attenborough.
Thank you Anna for collections at airports, transport to concerts, arranging bus
tickets, providing cool beers in deserted villages and too many other things to mention!
I really hope to return to do Monte Perdido.

Our four days (independent) walking in the Pyrenees were excellent. Phil provided a range of walks to choose from and his suggestions to our particular requirements/interests were perfect. The snow/ice covered Ibones de Arriel and, of course, the Ordesa Valley were spectacular. As my first visit to the Pyrenees, the region more than lived up to my highest expectations. Our two days of activities (canyoning, via ferrata and rafting) were great fun; many thanks to Anna for organising at short notice, accompanying us to act as translator, and encouraging me up the cliff face!
I will (and indeed already have) recommended Hike Pyrenees to friends and family,
and we hope to return next year to try the Refugio Week.

Just a few words to say thank you for a really great holiday. Everything was well
planned and executed, the treks you selected where excellent with great scenery,
challenging without being impossible, your enthusiasm was very apparent making the
whole experience very interesting and enjoyable. At all times you demonstrated a
well balanced approach to safety when in the mountains. The hotel was fine with very
friendly staff and good food.

Sheila and I would like to thank you both for a fantastic week. The organisation

The walks were pitched at just the right level for our group. We even enjoyed walking in the rain on the ridge at San Juan de la Pena (after drying out that is!). The scenery was stunning and even when the weather was lovely and sunny there were so few people around it was as if we had the valleys and mountains to ourselves.

We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our holiday in Panticosa. It exceeded our expectations in every department. The welcome we received on arrival at the hotel was superb, and all the staff were really friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
