Our new French Pyrenees holiday took us on a journey, following in the footsteps of the first Pyreneists, exploring the giant cirques of Gavarnie, Troumouse, Vignemale and up the famous Col du Tourmalet.
A fantastic week on our Peaks & Passes guided walking holiday, with classic Pyrenean summits, alpine lakes, bearded vultures, wildflowers and superb views across the Valle de Tena.

We had some great early season weather on our Valle de Tena Explorer trip last week. It’s always a delight to welcome people to our home village of Biescas. A memorable week of snowshoeing in the Pyrenees. After bad weather for most of the winter, our group hit lucky with wall to wall sunshine this week! Routes explored Canal Roya, Ibón de Estanés and the mountains around Portalet, with Pablo and David guiding the group across a very snowy Pyrenees.

Travelling from London to the French Pyrenees by train to hike in the dramatic cirque of Gavarnie, is a relaxed way to reach the Pyrenees, avoiding flying and taking in the French scenery on the way. You can travel from London to Lourdes in a day, and from there the excellent hiking bases of Luz-Saint-Sauveur and Cauterets, where our French Pyrenees guided holiday is based, are nearby.
