Brittany Ferries announce Pourtsmouth-Bilbao route

Brittany Ferries have announced a new Pourtsmouth to Bilbao service starting March 2011. There will be twice weekly sailings and the service will operate alongside it’s existing Santander service from Portsmouth and Plymouth.

The ferry is a great way to get to Spain so this is fantastic news for guests wanting to come over to the Pyrenees by car – Bilbao is a lovely four hour drive from Hike Pyrenees. A popular option is to come over on the ferry, have a weeks walking holiday in the Pyrenees and then drive leisurely back through France.

Departures from Portsmouth are on a Sunday and Friday, The return sailing from Bilbao is on Tuesday and Saturday. The journey lasts 24 hours apart from the Sunday sailing which stops at Roscoff and takes 32 hours.

Really welcome news after the P&O Pride of Bilbao service finished this autumn.

Brittany Ferries now have three routes which are useful to Hike Pyrenees guests, Portsmouth-Bilbao, Portsmouth-Santander and Plymouth-Santander.
