Edelweiss – Leontopodium alpinum

When originally named the edelweiss was thought to look a bit like a lions paw hence the word ‘leo’ in it’s Latin name. Being a plant that predominantly grows on limestone we see various clumps of it in the Pyrenees. The hike you are most likely to see it on is the Faja Pelay in Ordesa.
