Adonis Blue – Lysandra bellargus

We see hundreds of these Adonis Blues through out the season and it’s in their hundreds that they are most impressive. You will often see them crowded around the edges of puddles or damp patches. They are extracting minerals from the wet earth and these minerals make the colour of the Adonis Blue even brighter. This then increases the butterflies chances of attaching a mate.
