Hike Pyrenees Walking Holidays Spain

Pyrenees Fiestas

Take part in a traditional village fiesta while you’re on your walking holiday

Spain is famous for it’s fiestas and the Pyrenees are no exception. There are several fiestas in Biescas and Panticosa over the summer with the Toros del Fuego a highlight. We also run trips to the Pirineos Sur world music festival and to the Tour de France which often passes close by. So why not time your holiday with a fiesta and see what a traditional Spanish fiesta is like.

2012 Fiestas

25 June: Santa Orosia

The yearly procession to the old convent passing several clifftop ermitas and culminating in traditional dancing and a picnic on the summit. Just south of Biescas, our self guided walking holidays at Hotel Tierra de Biescas or the Rincon del Verde self catering apartments are good bases to visit the festival.

2 - 3 July: Panticosa festival

A medieval market takes place during the day with live bands in the evening and the traditional game of bingo a highlight! Our Refugio Week is in Panticosa this weekend.

18 July: Tour de France

Stage 16 of this years Tour de France passes through Laruns just over the border. It’s quite a spectacle and we’ll be running a trip on the rest day of our Peaks & Passes holiday that week to see the race.

8 - 24 July: Pirineos Sur

A world music festival on a floating stage in the village of Lanuza. Beautiful setting and music from around the globe. We visit the concert on Saturday nights on all of our holidays in Biescas and Panticosa during the festival.

Toros de Fuego fiesta

13-16  August: Toros del Fuego (Biescas)

Has to be seen to be believed. Locals act as the ‘bulls of fire’ running through the town square showering the crowd in fireworks. Come on our Valley de Tena Explorer guided walking holiday or a self guided holiday in Biescas to see the festival.

13 - 14  August: Panticosa Fiesta

Fireworks, music and dancing in the streets - Panticosa goes mad this weekend. Come on a  self guided walking holiday at Hotel Casa Morlans to enjoy the fiesta.

22 - 23 October: Feria de Atoño (Biescas)

The biggest event of the year in Biescas. There’s cheese and wine tasting with local producers, a craft market and a livestock show with Pyrenean rare breeds. Over 10,000 people visit the fair over the weekend.
