Our friend Kerry has come over for a half term holiday and yesterday we took her on her first snowshoeing outing. Lots of snow last week but blue skies and sunshine everyday this week so we had perfect conditions.

We took a route from the border to a peak called Cuyalaret (2286m). Great route – not too steep and fantastic views over the Valle de Tena and of Pic du Midi d’Ossau.

The border at both Portalet and Somport passes has been closed for about a week. I was quite surprised when we reached the border the road ended in a wall of snow 12 feet high – there was no passing that!

Kerry really enjoyed her first outing on snowshoes – tomorrow we’re taking her on skis for the first time!
